REVIEWS OF
SECRETS OF OLD SANTA FE
By Marion Kelley Bullock
"I just finished reading Secrets of Old Santa Fe by Marion Kelley Bullock. I couldn't put this book down. The last few chapters are riveting. If you like suffering heroines, and tall, dark, mysterious heroes woven together with other believable characters into an intriguing plot, this is a book you will enjoy. I especially liked the way the author used setting to create mood and atmosphere that gives a sense of, and feeling for, reality. Some of her descriptions are downright poetic."

"I like when [Elise] is remembering Laura, you draw great pictures of the theatre. I can almost smell the stage makeup. I got a real sense of her relationship with her mother right away. That was very good."
"You have woven a wonderful detail of the area and the house and its furnishings. I can picture the SW colors and style very well. I could almost smell that damp cellar."
"The aunt gives a clear message of "out of here" and makes me wonder. Hmm, what does she want and what's she hiding?"
"Ahh, nothing like a happy ending. I think your story will find a lot of happy readers. Be blessed."

"From the grotesque masked face in the upper window of the Castillo de los Castillos to the terrifying climax and on to the very satisfying finish, Secrets of Old Santa Fe kept me on the edge of my seat. Marion Bullock’s debut novel is a winner and I eagerly await her next offering."

"Secrets of Old Santa Fe is a "feel good" mystery. It has secrets, old folk lore splashed with some romantic undertones and even jealousy thrown into the mix. The descriptions of the scenery make this North Eastern girl want to visit the Southwest to enjoy the splendor of it all. I look forward to reading more of this author's work in the future."

"I enjoyed Secrets of Old Santa Fe by Marion Kelley Bullock. She’s painted such a beautiful picture of Santa Fe that I almost believed that I was there. Ms. Bullock’s grasp of setting is wonderful. I downloaded the book to my blackberry and enjoyed reading it on the go. The story was shrouded in mystery and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. It kept me guessing who the killer was." Secrets of Old Santa Fe is a great look at the countryside of New Mexico. Marion Kelley Bullock has done a fine job of setting the scenes. Her protagonist, Elise, is someone you want to take by the shoulders and shake, however. Why can't she see the secret that seems very obvious to the reader?
This is a quick, quaint, romantic read for the beach or a long airplane ride.
